Released in the EU on August the 13th, DOOM 3 was a huge departure for the series. Its sequel, 1994’s DOOM II was similarly beloved, but they didn’t get a true sequel until 2004’s DOOM 3. The 1993 original is considered to be one of the most important first person shooters of all time, becoming a benchmark that other games in the genre were judged by for years, thanks to its intense action, killer soundtrack, and groundbreaking 3D graphics. DOOM is one of gaming’s most enduring series.
